Our Mission

To enhance the quality of life for children and families through diverse educational and cultural programs that foster self-growth, personal empowerment and pride in one's community.

Our History

The Leaguers, Inc. was founded in 1943 by Mrs. Mary Burch and is the oldest incorporated African American social service agency in the state. Mrs. Burch organized a group of youth in her neighborhood as the Junior Leaguers and provided them with enrichment and recreational programs that prepared them for college and to lead productive lives.

Our Impact

Over 1,500 low-income children a year provided with high quality Early Childhood Education in Newark, Irvington, Elizabeth, Roselle, and Union Township

About Our Locations

The Leaguers, Inc. Headquarters is located at 405 University Avenue in Newark.

Built in 2009, this state-of-the-art building houses The Leaguer’s main administrative offices and 14 classrooms.

 

The Leaguers has fifteen other locations in Newark, Irvington, Roselle and Elizabeth, with a total of 89 classrooms, all meeting the highest standards for early childhood programs, including state-of-the art technology.
